Pluto

It was October 2022 when Kareema Ibraheem received a message about a tiny kitten wandering alone on the busy streets of Cairo. As always, Kareema made sure that the kitten was taken off the dangerous busy street as soon as possible. This little guy ended up in 'the haven' and was given the name Pluto.

Pluto had a very big belly full of feces, on the street he probably wouldn't have lasted much longer. With the right treatment and lots of TLC, Pluto has grown into a healthy young boy. Pluto is estimated to be around 2.5 years old, date of birth will be sometime in August 2022.

Pluto is a very gentle and friendly cat to all cats and the cat friendly dog in 'the haven'. Pluto is also a real cuddler towards people, he loves to be petted and will occasionally crawl on your lap for some attention.

Like all SHE cats, Pluto has received his vaccinations. This against common cat diseases and rabies. He is also chipped and neutered. Has received his deworming and anti-flea treatment. Pluto is also litter-box trained.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. With Pluto this is extra important because he has grown up in the safety of the shelter from an early age. A very well-enclosed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Who can offer this young cuddly guy a safe home?

Sir Vanderbilt

It was December 2024 when Kareema saw a post about a nearly blind young cat on the busy streets of Cairo. As always, she didn’t hesitate and brought him to safety as soon as possible. As we all know, blind cats don’t stand a chance when they’re alone on the streets.

The cat was taken to 'the haven' and was named Sir Vanderbilt. It is estimated that Sir Vanderbilt is about 1 year old, his date of birth is around January 2024.

Sir Vanderbilt is missing his right eye, according to the vet he can still see shadows with his left eye. Fortunately this does not bother him at all.

Sir Vanderbilt is a very gentle and friendly cat to all cats and the cat friendly dog in 'the haven'. Sir Vanderbilt is also a real cuddler to people, he loves to be petted.

Like all SHE cats, he has received his vaccinations. This against common cat diseases and rabies. He is also microchipped and sterilized. Has received his deworming and anti-flea treatment. Sir Vanderbilt is also litter-box trained.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. With Sir Vanderbilt this is extra important because he is almost blind and cannot see any dangers on the street. A very well-sealed outdoor area or cat run is of course also good.

Who can offer this young cuddly guy a safe home?

Duchess

Kareema had been feeding a ginger cat in the neighborhood where she lives for a while. At the end of July 2024, this cat had given birth to kittens in one of the buildings in this neighborhood. Kareema received a phone call from someone in the neighborhood that the mother cat was not doing well. Kareema immediately took the cat to a vet, in all probability the cat had been poisoned by someone in the building. Fortunately, the mother cat recovered quickly. Kareema took her to her building, there was an apartment there that was empty. In the apartment, Kareema set up a cage so that the mother cat could raise the kittens safely and comfortably.

Once the kittens were vaccinated, the mother cat and her kittens could move to 'the haven'. Here, the mother cat was given the name Duchess. Duchess is a super affectionate and active cat. She loves to be petted. Duchess is also supposed to be a cat that gets along well with children. Duchess gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dog in 'the haven'.

Duchess is estimated to be less than 2 years old, her estimated date of birth is around April 2023. Duchess is vaccinated against cat flu, sneezing disease and rabies, a titer determination is done for the rabies vaccination because this is necessary to be allowed to fly. She is chipped, sterilized, deflead and dewormed. Duchess is litter box trained. Duchess can travel to Europe, England, the United States, Canada.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Kitkat

In November 2024, Kareema saw a post about a cat that had probably once had a safe home but was now dumped on the street like trash. Because such a cat had never had to fend for itself and was therefore not used to it, she would not survive long on the streets. Kareema quickly had her secured and that is how this cat came to 'the haven'.

The first thing they did in 'the haven' was wash the cat thoroughly because she had become very dirty from her adventure in busy Cairo. She was given the name Kitkat by a sponsor.

Kitkat is very friendly and cuddly towards people, she lets herself be picked up without any problems. Kitkat gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dog in 'the haven'.

Kitkat is estimated to be 2 to 3 years old, her estimated date of birth is around 06-2022. Kitkat is vaccinated against cat flu, sneezing disease and rabies, a titer determination is done for the rabies vaccination because this is necessary to be allowed to fly. She is chipped, sterilized, deflead and dewormed. Kitkat is litter box trained. Kitkat can travel to Europe, England, the United States, Canada.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Bluey

At the end of December 2024, Kareema saw a post about a cat that was wandering the busy streets of Cairo. In all likelihood, this cat once belonged to someone and they dumped him on the street. Because he is not used to finding food and water himself, he obviously does not stand a chance on the streets. Kareema had him rescued from the streets and since the end of December 2024 he has been a resident of 'the haven'.

This handsome appearance was named Bluey, because of his beautiful blue eyes. He is very friendly towards people and loves to be cuddled. He also gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dog in 'the haven'.

Bluey is estimated to be around 4 years old, his estimated date of birth is around 01-2021. Bluey is vaccinated against cat flu, sneezing disease and rabies, a titer determination is done for the rabies vaccination because this is necessary to be allowed to fly. He is chipped, castrated, deflead and dewormed. Bluey is litter box trained. Bluey can travel to Europe, England, the United States, Canada.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Cookie

This is an reserved cat. This one is no longer available for adoption at this time.

In May 2023, Kareema went to visit and care for her father's grave, this is an area where almost no one lives. Then she found a cat that was in very bad shape, she immediately took the cat to a vet to have it checked out. The cat was hypothermic, dehydrated and had severe anemia and was treated for this.

People from that neighborhood told Kareema that suddenly 2 white longhaired cats had appeared in this area, the other one was unfortunately bitten to death by one of the stray dogs that lived there. In all probability these 2 cats were released there together by their previous owner when he no longer wanted them.

After a long time at the vet for medication, drips, vitamins and lots of TLC this kitty was strong enough to move to 'the haven' to get stronger. She was sponsored and named Cookie.

Cookie is estimated to be around 4 years old, estimated date of birth is +/- 01-2021. Like all SHE cats, Cookie has received all her vaccinations. This against common cat diseases and rabies. She is also chipped and sterilized. Cookie has received a deworming treatment and anti-flea treatment. Cookie is also litter box trained.

Cookie is a very social cat, both towards people and the other cats and the cat-friendly dog in 'the haven'. She loves attention and will ask for it, in 'the haven Cookie often lies together with other cats.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Cookie has so much love to give, we hope she can pack her suitcase soon and get her own forever home. Interested or have questions? Feel free to send us a message, we are happy to help you.

Fonzie

Fonzie just picked up off the street

In late April 2023, Kareema was driving over a busy bridge when she thought she saw a dead kitten. But something in her thought, let me just stop and see if he really wasn't alive. And it was a good thing she followed her gut, she found a kitten that had most likely been hit by a car or motorcycle.

The kitten had a broken front leg and a tail that was almost completely dead. She took him and immediately took him to a vet to be checked. The kitten turned out to have severe anemia for which he was treated.

The next day the dead piece of tail was removed and the wound next to his tail was treated. His leg had already grown together wrongly, they couldn't do anything about that and they left it like that.

Kareema took the kitten to her own home to recover from all his injuries. Fortunately, the kitten recovered quickly and started playing with the other kittens at Kareema's home. The kitten turned out to be a male and was named Fonzie.

After a while he moved to 'the haven' to get stronger and grow up. In 'the haven' Fonzie made more friends and he turned out to be a very social cat, both towards people and the other cats and the cat-friendly dog. He grew into a healthy young boy, although with a deformed leg and without a tail but that did not bother him at all.

In December 2024, Fonzie thought he could finally pack his bags because he received an adoption offer. Unfortunately, that adoption was canceled in January 2025, through no fault of his own.

At the end of January 2025, Fonzie suddenly developed a swollen leg that also started bleeding. The vet then decided that his leg would be better amputated and this was done.

Like all SHE cats, Fonzie has received his vaccinations. This against common cat diseases and rabies. He is also chipped and castrated. Has received his deworming and anti-flea treatment. Fonzie is also litter box trained.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

As you can read, Fonzie has been through a lot in his short life. He has so much love to give, we hope that he can pack his suitcase soon and get his own forever home.

Interested or have any questions? Feel free to send us a message, we are happy to assist you. And take a look our adoption procedure.

Astra

Astra taken from the street

In March 2022, Kareema – the manager of Haven – went shopping when she noticed a cat lying in bad condition on the side of the road. She immediately recognized this cat, it was one of the stray cats she had been feeding in this area for quite some time.

Of course Kareema immediately took this cat to the vet. Astra turned out to be very dehydrated, after a few days at the vet on a drip she completely recovered.

Astra is estimated to be almost 3 years old, born around March 2022. Astra is female, spayed. As far as we know, Astra is completely healthy.

Astra gets along well with the other cats and cat-friendly dog in 'the haven'. Astra is still a bit shy towards people.

But touching is allowed a little bit, but as soon as she notices that you are going to do that or are doing that, Astra will try to walk away. This without blowing or scratching.

Her trust will not be gained by touching her against her will. We advise the adopter to be respectful towards Astra and wait until she seeks herself physically contact.

Like all SHE cats, she has received her vaccinations. This against common cat diseases and rabies. She is also chipped and sterilized. Has received her deworming and anti-flea treatment.
Astra is also litter box trained.

We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.

Are you the needle in the haystack we are looking for who will give Astra the peace and time to thaw and let her be a cat? For questions send us a message, we are happy to assist you. And please read the adoption procedure meanwhile.

Ruby

As we all know, blind cats don't stand a chance if they are alone on the streets.

Ruby came to the harbor in May 2024 and is estimated to be just over a year old. Estimated to be born in December 2023.

Gender: Male castrated.

Medication/health: Basbosa is FIV positive, at the moment he is still in the latent phase and he is not experiencing any complaints.

Social with people: Basbosa is a super affectionate lap cat who loves cuddling and attention.

Social with other cats and dogs: Basbosa is very friendly towards all other cats and the cat-friendly dog in 'the haven'.

How the cat ended up in the haven: It was June 2022 when Kareema saw a message about two very young kittens that had been dumped on the street in a cardboard box.
