A – Fatouta
Male.
Found by Walae, co-founder of Safe Haven Egypt who now lives in the US and would likely check the home if you were to adopt, when she was recently visiting family.
He is about 5 months old. He has received his rabies vaccination. At the earliest 3 months after that he can fly.
He will be neutered soon.
He is very playful, very friendly. He is still in the cage but he does seek out the cats that are free to roam. So he seems to get along well with other cats.
This is a temporary reserved cat. This status typically lasts for a week. This is so that an interested party can think about a possible adoption proposal. It is still possible to apply as a reserve.

Nameless cat w39-A
He came to Haven about a month ago. This photo is from December 22, 2024 of cat w39-A on the street.
He has not had any eye surgery yet, but that should happen very soon.
Behavior towards other cats is not yet clear due to quarantine. Towards people he is very friendly.
Cat w39-A has received his basic vaccinations and rabies. Also deworming and flea treatment. Reconfirmation (Monday 10/02) that the eye surgery will happen soon ('next week', but such a next week can easily be pushed back a bit).
Castration of w39-A is also still on the agenda.
It is important that he has received his rabies vaccination. He can travel from 3 months after his rabies vaccination. That seems long but it is not. That is good.
w39-A must undergo his surgeries and receive medical aftercare. And in the event of adoption, you must go through the adoption process. That is also a week or 2 or 3. And then it is waiting for a 'light parent'. That waiting period because of the rabies requirement will not really cause delay in practice.

Update 2025-01-12, 6pm: additional photos of Katie
Update 2025-01-13; extra info, about Katie's impression behavior
Katie
She is about 10 months old and she is not ready yet, but she will be ready early next month. (= early February she will be ready to get a rabies certificate & be able to travel)
Confirmation that she has received her basic vaccinations, no known medical issues. Passed the rabies test and is ready to fly (medically)
She would be very good with children
She is not a high energy cat. She can play play but is not crazy. She is a lap cat and super friendly
Addition Monday 13/01; in a chat with Walae who was visiting the cat shelter and knew that Katie had been passed on to me for an interested party spontaneously came through;
Also I met Katie, the little cat that Koky told you about. She is super cute and friendly. She is the cutest.
❗ This is a confirmed cat. This one is no longer available for adoption. ❗
Otis
Name: Otis.
Age: Approximately 1 year old.
Gender: Male, neutered.
Behaviour/character: Very friendly and affectionate towards people.
Other special features (lap cat, shoulder cat): Lap cat, cuddler.
Medication/health: Otis had a broken jaw when he was found, he had surgery for this. He needed intensive care for 1 week after the surgery. Now he is a healthy young cat, no known health problems.
Social with people: Otis is very social towards people, when you sit down he immediately climbs onto your lap for cuddles and pats.
Social with other cats and dogs: Otis gets along well with other cats and cat-friendly dogs.
How the cat ended up in the haven: In April 2024, Kareema received a message from one of her regular taxi drivers. In the building where the taxi driver lived, a kitten had gotten caught in the elevator door when it was closing. The kitten was in very bad shape and was immediately taken to the vet and operated on. After a week of intensive care, Otis came to the haven where he has now been for over half a year.

Niro
3 – Niro
Information from this week's Haven visitor about Niro;
He is very calm and gets along well with other cats. Once he finds me he keeps following me and asking for attention. He lets out very loudly that she enjoys all the attention and even dares to give love bites!
Information from Kareema (Haven operator) from June 2024 about Niro;
Friendly cuddly, Picked up yes, male, 3 to 4 years old
Niro's eyes have been removed and closed.
tested for FIV/FeLV: negative (test done in June 2024 following failed adoption)
Niro has lentigo, pigmentation discolorations in his mouth. Which causes him to have black spots in his mouth.
Very soon the vet will examine Niro and see what needs to be done about his teeth that need attention.

Koky informed; Done for Niro today,Two teeth removed rest cleaned
When asked of anything else can be said about the medical status; Nothing else about him walter his eye surgery done and the fiv test as you requested
Addition to this profile 30/05/2024: Sunset has medical problems. Surgery on the eye to remove it has been postponed because of this. Her liver enzymes are too high.
There is a suspicion that this will be a chronic problem. Sunset currently needs special food and medicine. With the right treatment this can be controlled.
Sunset is currently adoptable. So Sunset has baggage. We recommend that anyone who adopts Sunset have her thoroughly examined by the local veterinarian.
If the current diagnosis remains confirmed, special veterinary diet food will have to be purchased for Sunset. No guarantee can be given about Sunset's life expectancy.
But a chronic condition does not necessarily rule out Sunset's ability to live a long life.
Julie
Is a 2 year old. Is good with other cats and cat-friendly dogs.
She is 'shy' when she doesn't know you. But is friendly afterwards.
Has had eye surgery, eyes removed and closed.
Maxine
Maxine has been in Haven since she was a kitten.
She was one month old at the time. She came in with her mom and her brothers and sisters. That was in August 2021. She was one month old at the time.
Her 3rd birthday is now approaching.
About 3 months ago I noticed that something was wrong. She seemed to be blind be what she wasn't before. She was taken to a vet specialized in eyes. We got confirmation that she was blind. It is not clear what happened. The pressure may be the pressure in the eyes became too high for some unknown reason.
So Maxine has not been blind for long.
She is friendly, but because she has suddenly become blind, she is still insecure. She can sometimes scream loudly when touched. There is doubt whether she can hear.
She is good with other cats. She is a calm cat who needs love has.

Demokat revived thanks to the good care in Haven!
January 2024
We estimate Demokat to be 3 to 4 years old. She has now received her vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. She has been sterilized.
Has received anti-worm and anti-flea treatments. Is chipped. Graduated from the University of Litter Box Use.
Demokat gets along well with other cats and cat-friendly dogs.
She is also social with people. It is not a shoulder cat but is friendly and loves cuddles.
Although it is relatively rare in the cats of Safe Haven Egypt, Demokat unfortunately has the feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Better known by the abbreviation FIV or 'cat AIDS'. – There is no cure.
FIV attacks the white blood cells of the immune system, causing them to die, become damaged or no longer perform their normal functions. Cats infected with FIV are therefore at increased risk of illness and infection with other viruses, bacteria and other pathogens.
If cats interact peacefully with each other, the risk of infection is very low. A vaccine is available to protect uninfected cats from infection.
If you would not keep Demokat as the only cat in your household, but with other non-FIV cats, we recommend that you ask your veterinarian for advice.
Demokat has found safety in Haven. And it must remain that way. Therefore, it should definitely be a cat that cannot roam freely in your neighborhood. So an indoor cat or a very well-enclosed garden is a necessity.
This is Seigen. Male. Also recommended by Koky, the manager of Haven
Update: The name was given on May 12, 2023 by Seigen's first sponsor, a Katie. – According to the sponsor, Seigen is “A famous blind warrior”.
Seigen approx 2 years old very affectionate very friendly and lab cat
He also good with other cats.
Yes he there since May before that he was in Foster home some one rescued him and his friend Fostered him until we were able to take him to the haven
And yes he was an adult when taken in to Haven
Male
Some pictures of Oreo
'He so friendly boy and has been in the shelter close to 3 years'
He took as a kitten in to Haven
He I think joined us by June or July or August 2020 so he by now 3 years with us and 3 years old too
How lost eyes? We will never know but mostly they get infection and sadly no one care as they are in streets and then infection cause blindness
We had to the test as he had adopted and canceled
– He has been tested for FIV/FeLV and is negative.
Oreo is male
Question: is Oreo suitable for this environment; small childcare at home. There are two small cat-friendly dogs. And daily 4 -5 children younger than 4 years old in her care. And because she takes care of children it will be fairly regular be different children when the grow up. She does not want a cat that will always go upstairs in to hide
A: I don't think oreo would hide – He has been with us long time he always with other cats not hide.
q: Has Oreo been in contact with children, very young ones?
A: Honest no – – But I don't think that's a problem as long as kids know blind one we can't go and touch them suddenly something . Suddenly
