This is a mix of two colors, usually red and black. Here a clear distinction is made between man and woman. The male only gets one X gene, the females get two. If females get an X gene with red and get an That is why this color mainly occurs in cats and hardly in tomcats. The colors can sometimes lean slightly towards blue and cream.
It was September 2021 when Kareema's husband suddenly came home with a little kitten. He had found this kitten in an extremely busy place full of people and cars and he simply could not leave her there because she would not survive much longer. According to bystanders she had been there for about 3 days, crying out loudly. Kareema took the little kitten to the safety of 'the haven' where she was named Piper.
Piper is estimated to be about 3.5 years old of which she has been staying at 'the haven' for more than 3 years. Piper is a quiet cat that is friendly to the other cats and cat-friendly dog at 'the haven'. Piper is still shy towards people and does not let herself be touched. She will run away if you come too close.
Like all SHE cats, Piper has received her vaccinations. These are for common cat diseases and rabies. She is also microchipped and has received her deworming and anti-flea treatment. Piper is sterilized and is also litter-box trained.
We attach great importance to the safety of our SHE cats. A SHE adoption cat must be an indoor cat. A very well-sealed outdoor space or cat run is of course also good.
Who can offer this quiet, still shy lady a loving home where she will hopefully learn to trust 'her people'. She deserves it after more than three years in 'the haven'.
This is a temporary reserved cat. This status typically lasts for a week. This is so that an interested party can think about a possible adoption proposal. It is still possible to apply as a reserve.
Our cuddly tortoiseshell cat Sassafras is looking for a new home!
Sassafras was admitted to Haven with her mother and four siblings when she was just one day old. Luckily all the babies survived!
The mother cat was named Tiggy by our sponsors and has already been adopted, as have two of her kittens.
In addition to Sassafras, her handsome brother Alfie is still looking for his forever home. We would of course like to place them together, but that is not a must.
Sassafras is now 2 years old and enjoys every cuddle she can get at the Haven. Although she does well there and socializes with the other fluff balls, she is desperate for the attention and love, which only her own family can give her.
Would you grant Sassafras' wish?
Like all SHE cats, Sassafras is sterilized, deflead, dewormed, chipped and vaccinated.
She can fly to Europe, Canada and the US and of course travels with a negative rabies certificate and all necessary documents.
SHE attaches great importance to the safety of its rescued cats. Therefore, they will not be allowed to roam freely in their new home. Of course they would be happy with a well-secured balcony or a cat-proof garden.
Ruskin has just been picked up off the street. – March 10, 2023
March 2023. After a typical long tiring day, Koky, the manager of Safe Haven Egypt, was on his way home from Haven. And she encounters a cat that almost ends up under her wheels.
Koky picked up the cat, which was caught without any problems. After reporting about this incident in the SHE Facebook group, the cat was named Ruskin and her first sponsor.
We estimate that Ruskin was born around the end of December 2022, beginning of 2023.
Ruskin is a very friendly girl. She likes to sit with people and follow them. She doesn't like being picked up.
She has been sterilized. Has received her vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. Has had deworming treatments and anti-flea treatment. Know how to use the litter box. And also has a microchip.
As you can see, she is now a beautiful adult tortoiseshell cat. And ready to find her own home.
Can you imagine Ruskin lying next to you on the couch? Softly humming as she presses against you? – Take a quick look at the top of this text! – If there is none 'This is a reserved cat' then this can be done effectively.
You have read how Ruskin was literally picked up off the street. That must never happen again. Above all, she must have a safe home. As an indoor cat or a cat with access to a fully enclosed outdoor area.
Know that Ruskin gets along well with other cats. So that's no problem for the longest time!
Can you give Ruskin a place in your home and in your heart?
Then check it out our adoption procedure. And please don't hesitate to contact us for questions. Or if you just know and want to be a candidate to adopt Ruskin.
❗ This is a confirmed cat. This one is no longer available for adoption. ❗
Meet our sweet girl, Zaynab.
She must have been born around August 2022. So she is now 2 years old. (October 2024) Her name means “beauty”, “fragrant flower” or “grace”.
Zeynab as found on the street, among garbage
She was rescued on the street as a very young kitten, without a mother cat. Because of her age, she had to be bottle-fed. There is always a risk that these little ones will not survive, but Zaynab has grown into a kind and gentle girl.
Zaynab has a sweet character – not an in-your-face cat, but very grateful for human attention when it is offered. (See the video below, courtesy of our equally lovely Admin, Deborah Falcus).
Zaynab did not join the crowd of other cats that Deborah circled for attention on a recent visit. But when Deborah approached Zeynab she was happy with love. The only thing a little different about her is that she doesn't like dry food/kibble — so far she only eats wet food.
Maybe her new adopter can try some different flavors or options with her?
Because she was just a baby when she was rescued, the only home Zaynab has ever known is the Haven. She never had her own house, her own people. Given her temperament, we expect she would fit in well with most households, including those with other cats, with the cat-friendly dog and with respectful children.
October 2024
Zaynab must be able to maintain the same level of safety in her forever home as she had in the Haven. This means that she either needs to be adopted by someone with a completely cat-proof yard (with the special fencing) or catio Either as an indoor cat/house cat.
We believe that with a few adjustments, such as daily playtime, indoor cats can live happy and content lives. Additionally, many of our adopters have had success training our cuties to go outside with a harness and leash, something that could be explored.
Zaynab is litter box trained. And like all our cats, she is sterilized, microchipped and vaccinated against standard cat diseases and rabies. If she travels, she will do so with her certificate from the laboratory that certifies her rabies blood test. She also has a negative FIV/FeLV test.
All adoption offers are subject to a successful home check (done via video call) and an adoption contribution. See page What is the adoption procedure at SHE?

New video from 09/10/2023
Explanation; Zeynab was in a cage for two days to investigate whether she was eating enough. Normally she walks around freely in the group.
