Karamello

My name is Karamello.

When I was one month old my mother was poisoned. I was next to her trying to get some milk. I didn't know that she had died and that there was no more milk and that I was not safe anymore.

A young lady saw me and took me home, she took care of me and loved me very much. I felt like I had a mother again. She brought me delicious food and gave me lots of hugs.

I was so happy with her but life wasn't fair to me again. My friend had finished high school and had to go to college when she left home.

Her family took me away and left me alone on the roof to suffer from the cold and loneliness. They didn't care for me or give me any food.

My friend came back from college and found me on the roof and her family told her I wasn't welcome back home anymore. So she put me on Facebook to try and find me a safe place. She eventually found me a safe place where I live now in Haven.

I came to them in May. They all love me here and gave me a new name Karamello to have a new life. Now I am looking for a loving forever home. I would like to have a home where it is quieter, with much less cats than in Haven.

I like attention from people and like to sit on people's laps. But there are limits; I don't crawl on people's necks like some cats here in Haven like to do.

I am about a year and a half old, vaccinated, chipped and neutered. I use the litter box. I promise to come and check on my human when he is on the toilet. I listened to the advice of the other cats in Haven and know what my duties are as a house cat.

I can fly to the US, UK, Canada and Europe. Is there an adopter for me?

I have suffered enough in my life and I want a family that will consider me a family member and I will live with them for the rest of my life.

Nemr

❗ This is a confirmed cat ❗

Upon arrival at Haven

Last February, something very ordinary happened on the streets of Cairo. Dogs attacked a very young kitten.

However, this was a lucky thing for this kitten as he was spotted and ended up in Haven. His admission price was the lower part of his right front leg which could not be saved.

He was given good care and the name Nemr.

At first he was scared. Didn't want to be touched. Some cats stay scared their whole lives. Not Nemr.

He has now become a cat that demands human attention. He follows the shelter workers around hoping to get a pet. Which he does get, of course, although not all the time. There is a lot of work to be done in Haven.

Pet me, all day long!

Nemr is estimated to have been born around New Year's 2024. He is ready to leave for a new home.

And that means he is litter box trained. He has received his basic vaccinations, including rabies vaccination. He is also neutered and chipped and has received his deworming and anti-flea treatment.

The absence of his right hand is no obstacle for Nemr. Besides being affectionate towards people, Nemr is also a good friend towards other cats.

Nemr also has no problem with the sweet cat-friendly dog Hope who walks around among the cats.

We ask anyone who would consider giving Nemr a home to read the adoption procedure. Know that we attach great importance to a safe environment for our rescued ex-street cats. They should not be able to end up on the streets again.

And of course don't hesitate to contact us to contact for questions. This all runs on volunteers. Nothing is too much for us to give our cats a home.

Ernie

My name is Ernie. I am 8 months old now, born around new year 2024.

Last February I was walking between buildings on the street looking for food in trash cans when I found a building. There was some dry food nearby.

I went there, ate and slept deeply. The next day I saw cats entering this building and going to the first floor where food was next to an apartment. I did the same as them.

After talking to the other cats I understood that they told me there was a lovely lady named Koky. She feeds the cats, so I decided to live next to this building.

Every day I go to Koky's apartment and eat there. Later she saw me and started touching me and taking care of me. That was the first time in my life that someone took care of me.

Since then we have become friends and every time she opens the door we would play together. I saw that she also has other cats. I decided I wanted to join them too.

The next day Koky opened the door and I jumped into her apartment. I decided I would live there and she told me it was okay, but that I would have to go to the shelter after a few days. I didn't know what a shelter was, but I knew Koky wouldn't take me to a bad place.

I came to the shelter and made many friends here. Now I am looking for a loving forever home.

I am vaccinated, chipped and neutered. I'm looking for a nice home and a nice family who will love me forever, and I will love them forever too.

I am a good boy, Koky told me. Friendly with other cats, dogs and children. I'm not super active, but I like to play.

But don't worry, I won't jump on you and climb on your shoulders. I like to lie in a lap and don't mind being picked up.

Who can give me a safe home? – Adoption procedure

Jonsey

Jonsey arrived at Safe Haven Egypt on December 21, 2023, after being abandoned by someone near the shelter.

He has a gentle and playful personality, and is a real cuddler who likes to lie on your lap. Jonsey gets along well with other cats and dogs who are used to cats.

He is estimated to have been born in October 2023. He is now one year old.

All cats at Safe Haven Egypt, including Jonsey, have received their basic vaccinations against common feline diseases and rabies. They are microchipped, have undergone a deworming treatment and an anti-flea treatment. All cats are housetrained and have undergone castration or sterilization.

At Safe Haven Egypt we focus on the safety and well-being of our cats. Therefore, our cats must be kept indoors and cannot roam freely. They are allowed in one catio or a very well-enclosed garden.

When adopted, our cats travel with a negative rabies lab certificate, in a sturdy cat box, and with all cat documentation. We ask adoption candidates for our adoption procedure and not to hesitate if you have questions to contact us.

Jonsey is ready for a loving and safe home. Are you ready to meet this sweet young man?

Alfie

Our handsome boy Alfie is still looking for his own loving family!

In January 2022, a mother cat was brought to Safe Haven Egypt (SHE) with her newborn kittens. All the kittens survived, including Alfie.

While mother Tiggy and three of her babies have already been adopted, Alfie and his sister Sassafras still need a home. We would like to place them together, but they can also be rehomed separately.

Alfie has grown into a beautiful ginger tomcat and is now 2 years old. He is a bit shy at first, but has the potential to become a real cuddle cat once he has settled into his new family. In the Haven he likes to be petted on the head by his caregivers. When they don't give him enough attention, he starts following them.

Would you like to give Alfie the security of his own home where he will receive the love and attention he needs?

Like all SHE cats, Alfie has been neutered, treated against fleas and worms, microchipped and vaccinated. He can fly to Europe, Canada and the USA and of course travels with a negative rabies certificate and all necessary documents.

SHE is committed to the safety of their rescued cats. Therefore, they should be kept indoors or ideally have access to a safe outdoor area such as a well-secured balcony, cat run or cat garden.

Also take a look at our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us to contact for questions.

Isaac

This is an adopted cat

March 4, 2022

This is Isaac. A classic SHE cat.

Early March 2022. Message from Koky, founder of Safe Haven Egypt, in the SHE Facebook group. – Her phone is never silent with requests to rescue cats in need.

This time 3 blind young cats. – Requests for donations to save them. That succeeds. – Isaac also has a sponsor, a name now, and a future.

Isaac, right in Haven. March 2022

Isaac is terrified when he arrives in Haven. But he will soon learn that Haven is a safe place.

He received the necessary medical care in addition to food, safety and love. His eyes where beyond saving.

Isaac received vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. Microchip and castration. He uses the litter box. His eyes have been removed and the eye sockets are closed.

Isaac has no known medical problems.

We estimate him to be 3 years old. Isaac is a friendly boy. He tends to meow when he wants food or attention. Isaac is a ground cat. He doesn't want to be picked up and carried around.

Isaac likes to be caressed, also on his stomach. He is good with other cats.

The fact that he is blind should not stop anyone from going for Isaac.

A blind SHE cat like Isaac could quite possibly be the sweetest boy you will ever meet.

Who wants and can give Isaac a home? A safe home. – It seems obvious that Isaac should not be able to wander around freely, but we have to mention it.

Check it out our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us.

Kicho

KichΓ΅ was born on the streets of Cairo and survived with his mother and siblings. Two of the kittens did not survive the first days on the street, but the rest were allowed to grow up in the safety that Haven has to offer after a tough start in life.

KichΓ΅ is truly a beauty: silky soft, deep black, fluffy fur and breathtaking green eyes!

But he is also a 'shy' boy. He is not (yet) a cuddly cat. He prefers not to be touched. Trust needs to grow in some cats. KichΓ΅ is such a cat. If he is adopted and he starts to feel safe and gains confidence in his human, that can certainly change.

A shy cat, a 'don't touch cat', has the potential to become a cuddle cat. Or a cat that one can touch to a limited extent. There are no guarantees here. An adopter must be able to accept that KichΓ΅ can be a cat that does its own thing. Not on your lap. But possibly in the seat next to you, as long as you stay away from him.

It is estimated that KichΓ΅ was born in April 2021. He is therefore 3 years old and has been living in Haven almost all his life.

Like all SHE cats, KichΓ΅ is neutered, deflead, dewormed, chipped and fully vaccinated. And he knows how to use the litter box.

He can travel to Europe with a negative rabies certificate and all necessary documents. KichΓ΅ is looking for a safe home. He must be an indoor cat or only go outside in a very well-enclosed garden.

KichΓ΅'s coat is still short because he is still young. It may well be that his coat becomes even longer and thicker with age and in a cooler climate. Do you want to give this black beauty your heart?

If you are interested in our cats, You can find more information about the adoption procedure here. - Do not hesitate to contact us.

Currently no room in your plan for KichΓ΅? Maybe you know who can give a home to a cat that is more difficult to place? – Sharing is caring! (buttons at the bottom)

Jubilee

This is an adopted cat

Jubilee is the penultimate kitten

In January 2023, news reached the street of a litter of four kittens in a pizza box. It was estimated that they were one month young.

A friend of Haven's took them in to care for them. Such small kittens need a lot of personal attention. As soon as there was room at Haven, they were admitted to Haven.

One of those four kittens is this boy, Jubilee.

So he is now one year old.

Jubilee is quite a big boy and is a cuddler. He is very friendly.

He likes to lie on his back and be petted on his belly. We suspect he will become more long-haired as he gets older.

Jubilee would do well in a family with cats, dogs and children. He is not in the habit of jumping on people.

As always with SHE cats, Jubilee is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated against Rabies and general cat diseases. Has had a deworming treatment and anti-flea treatment. – Jubilee is also litter box trained.

Jubilee as an ex-street cat should not be allowed back on the street with its many dangers. Therefore, an adopter must promise that Jubilee must be an indoor cat. Or possibly can only go outside in circumstances where he cannot walk around freely in the area.

Who can give Jubilee a home? – Check out our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us.

Gaston

This is an adopted cat

We sometimes receive reports of the cruelty that people inflict on street cats. Or we receive the consequences. – Fortunately, there are sometimes other events, hopeful situations.

This is such a situation. – A kind man had found a seriously injured cat. And took him to a vet. – Help a little, yes, maybe quite a few people would. But paying the vet for a seriously injured street cat….. – That cat was very lucky in its accident.

After care, it turned out that the kind man could not give the cat a home. And that's why he eventually ended up in Haven.

He was given the name Gaston in memory of the Flemish comedian Gaston Berghmans of the duo Gaston & Leo.

Gaston's street life cost him his right front leg. But otherwise he is unscathed and he is healthy.

He's a cuddle bug. Very affectionate. Gaston can do everything a four-legged cat can do, including jumping.

Gaston is estimated to be approximately one year young. He gets along well with other cats and dogs and would fit well in a family with children.

The concept of 'the litter box' is clear to Gaston and he applies it. He is neutered and has had his basic vaccinations. When he travels he will be chipped and have a negative Rabies certificate.

Gaston has not been in Haven for very long. That is not necessary to be adopted. And certainly not with Gaston, who is already a sweet boy and does not need any further 'training' to become a good SHE cat.

We are looking for a good home for Gaston, just like for all our cats. A safe home. And this means that Gaston must absolutely be an indoor cat.

Who can give our boy a home to live in, a lap to lie in, a litter box to... ?

contact us! – We are happy to help you to see if the dream of placing this handsome boy with you is possible.

Tip: although we would like to explain it to you this way, we suggest that you first: our adoption procedure good to read.

Christian

Christian on the street, end of 2021

As they often do, a video of a young cat in dire need in Cairo circulated among people active in sheltering and rescuing cats. This was at the end of 2021.

It was a cat that had clearly had something terrible happen to it. Broken jaw and his eyes were a bloody mess. – He wouldn't make it without help.

A friend of Haven took him to the vet for necessary care and cared for him for about a month. The SHE community sponsored him and named him Christian. And so, in early 2022, Christian arrived in Haven.

December 2023

Here we are two years later. Christian has become a grown-up handsome boy.

Christian is blind. The eyes are removed and closed. He must be about 2.5 years old now.

He is a gentle, calm and friendly cat. He has no tendency to bite or scratch.

Christian gets along well with other cats. He's a good eater.

He is not yet cuddly, he is a bit scared of being touched. The busy environment of Haven is not good for him. He sometimes walks a bit uncertainly and nervously through the spaces.

In a quiet house he will certainly blossom.

So he is one of the many blind SHE cats. Know that blind cats are wonderful. They are cats through and through. And they can be expected to act as cats do. Such as (possibly) found on top of a seemingly inaccessible place.

For those who delve into the world of blind cats, see . FB group Blind cats united.

All cats at Safe Haven Egypt receive vaccinations against common cat diseases. An anti-worm and anti-flea treatment. Have a microchip, are castrated like Christian. They are litter box trained, – And will travel with a negative Rabies certificate and their vaccination record.

Also something that applies to all SHE cats is that they must be indoor cats. - We don't want to have to find out after adoption that adopter's promise not to let the cat roam free twas a lie . - This has even happened with a blind cat.

We would like to get our animals adopted. But that must also be done properly and safely.

Can you give our Christian a home? Want to sit together on the couch and go to sleep? – Then take a look at our adoption procedure.

And don't hesitate to contact us for questions or an adoption proposal.

Sharing this message where you can is also something that we greatly appreciate.
