Stevie

❗ This is a confirmed cat

Without speaking ill of the other cats at Haven….we have a very special cat on offer here!

Stevie arrived in Haven in March 2024. We estimate he was born around summer 2023. So he is just over a year old.

As you can see, he is an exceptionally handsome boy.

But his greatest asset is that he is extremely friendly. He is playful and very affectionate. He allows to be picked up.

Stevie's eyes have been removed. The fact that he is blind is really nothing to worry about. Yes, he will bump into everything at first. But very quickly, blind cats move with such confidence through spaces that you would think they can see.

He has received his basic vaccinations and his rabies vaccine. He has been dewormed and given the flea treatment. Stevie is microchipped and neutered.

And of course, litter box trained.

He would fit in well with other cats and cat friendly dogs. And certainly with children. That because he is very gentle. He is a very sweet boy.

Stevie on the street

Stevie has left the dangers of the streets of Cairo and paid the entrance fee to Haven with his sight. He has found safety now and it should stay that way. An adopter should be able to offer Stevie a safe living environment.

Therefore he must be an indoor cat. Or if he does go outside it must be in a controlled, secure manner. Stevie must never be allowed back on the streets.

Stevie has all the makings of someone's best friend. He needs a person who can appreciate the affection he can give and give him affection back.

Are you Stevie's person? – Read on our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us.

Angel

Angel arriving at Haven

Upon arrival at Haven, Angel was literally a broken cat. Probably hit by a car.

Her jaw was broken and she had severe injuries to her eyes. Her jaw healed well and is fine now. Her eyes were not.

Angel is blind.

We estimate Angel to be 4 years old. Born in the first half of 2021. She was an adult when she came to Haven. And also when she went blind. Angel has a hard time with that. She is 'shy'. A 'no-touch cat'.

That is not absolute. – Koky, the manager of Haven, can sometimes, if she can take the time, gently pet her a little.

This makes Koky believe that with an adopter who is patient and can gain Angel's trust, there is potential to make her lose her shyness.

Can Angel become a cuddle cat? Possibly. – But that is not something to promise. With love and patience, much is possible.

An adopter must be able to accept Angel as being 'shy'. What will certainly help is never to forget that a blind cat is blind.

Example of a blind cat that is not sleeping

With a sighted cat you can see directly from the eyes whether it has seen you. Whether it is awake. – With a blind cat it is much more subtle to see whether it is awake or not.

Waking up a sleeping cat and startling it by touching it is not a good way to gain trust. For any cat.

Angel gets along well with other cats and dogs. It is with people that she is on her guard.

Angel doesn't like dry food. She eats wet. She is a fan of chicken and tuna.

Like all Haven cats, Angel has received her basic vaccinations and her rabies vaccine. Deworming and flea treatment. She is microchipped and sterilized. And is litter box trained.

Also standard with all SHE cats;

They came from the evil dangerous world to Haven. When they are adopted it is not to be put back into danger. SHE cats must either be indoor cats or only allowed outside in a secure environment.

We do not want the adopted cat to roam around in the adopter's neighborhood. Not even if 'It's very quiet here, hardly any cars pass by'.

So. – Who wants to give Angel a home? Will you consider this? Check out our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Seriously. Everyone involved is doing this for the cats' well-being. You're not going to interrupt.

Doesn’t a cat like Angel fit into your life right now? Maybe someone else you know does? – Sharing this post is caring!

Sir Drake

He is a blind boy.

His name is Sir Drake. He is about 4 years old.
He came to us in August 2023.

He was found by a friend after being hit by a car and she had to take him to the vet to save his life.

He did not lose his life, but unfortunately he did lose his sight.
The eyes are still there but the accident has affected his sight and nerves so he can't see. And if he can see then only shadows.

When he was rescued he also had a broken jaw and they repaired it.
He is a little nervous. He is not wild but he needs someone who will not touch him suddenly.
We touch him and he likes it when we do this, but not suddenly.
He's a big boy.
He is okay with other cats and dogs, no problem at all.
(*)

Sir Drake has now found safety in Haven. It is therefore an absolute requirement that he will have that in his adoptive family. He must be an indoor cat. With attention to his safety in the home, such as window security.

In itself there is nothing wrong with him going outside as long as there is a guarantee of safety. Just as he can now safely go outside in the closed outdoor areas of Haven.

Like all SHE cats he has received his basic vaccinations and rabies. He is microchipped. He has been dewormed and flea treated. Sir Drake has also been sterilized and is litter box trained.

Don’t let the fact that he’s blind stop you. Sir Drake went blind as an adult and it was a big shock to him. Many cats – at least in Haven – have lost their sight. And they’re adapting. Surprisingly well. – It’ll be okay.

Can you imagine giving this big boy who has been through so much a safe home and a place in your heart? Then take a look at our adoption procedure. – And please, don't hesitate to contact us.

Isn’t now the time in your life to take on such a responsibility? Maybe you know someone else who would be a good match for Salam? – Sharing is sweet!

(*) The profile texts here are written based on the information provided by Koky, the manager of Safe Haven Egypt. For the profile of Sir Drake we give you exceptionally just the information as Koky herself formulated it about Sir Drake.

Beatrice

This is an withdrawn cat

June 2023

Beatrice came to attention through a Facebook post on June 7, 2023 by a group trying to save cats in Cairo and Giza. A call for help for a cat in extreme distress.

Clearly a domestic cat that has been accidentally or - more likely deliberately - taken from the safety of its former home to die on the street.

Safe Haven Egypt was able to help in this case and this shadow of a cat came to Haven.

Whether a cat in such a terrible condition can still be saved is always a question mark. But Beatrice pulled through. Thanks to the support of SHE community who sponsored her medical expenses. She is a SHE miracle cat.

Beatrice is estimated to be 2 to 3 years old. She is a very, very friendly cat. You can pick her up. She likes to cuddle.

Beatrice is virtually blind. She can probably still see a little bit.

She has not only lost her sight due to her neglect, but also liver problems. She eats special veterinary diet food. Beatrice eats well.

The severity of the liver problems is not really clear. There are indications that this is not too bad.

A potential adopter for Beatrice can request medical advice from their own veterinarian based on Beatrice's blood tests. This is the most recent blood test available. New research can be done upon request.

Like all SHE cats, Beatrice has been sterilized and has received her vaccinations against common cat diseases. Rabies vaccine campaign. She has been shipped. And she has undergone a deworming treatment and anti-flea treatment. And she is litter box trained.

Who can give a Beatrice a safe home?

Please then read our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us for all your questions.

Sharing this post would be kind.

Julie

❗ This is a confirmed cat

Julie is one of Haven's blind cats. She is 2 years old and has a gentle character.

She is good with other cats and friendly dogs, making her a great companion. Although she can be a bit shy when she first meets you, she quickly develops into a friendly and affectionate cat.

She needs some time to get used to new people, but once she gets comfortable she shows her loving nature.

A cat can adapt very well to blindness. Julie is therefore very independent. But an adopter should not forget that she is blind and take that into account.

She had eye surgery where her eyes were removed and closed. Despite this challenge, Julie adapts well and navigates her environment well.

Like all Safe Haven Egypt cats, Julie has received her basic vaccinations against common feline diseases and rabies. She is microchipped, dewormed and has undergone anti-flea treatment. Julie is litter box trained and has been sterilized.

Safe Haven Egypt ensures that all cats are kept in safe indoor environments and are not allowed to roam freely. Julie can go outside in one catio or a very well-enclosed garden.

When adopted, Julie travels with a negative rabies laboratory certificate, a sturdy cat box and all documentation of the cat.

We invite potential adopters to our adoption procedure to read. You can always contact us if you have any questions to contact us.

Julie is a special cat who deserves a loving and patient home. With the right care and attention she will certainly be an enrichment for her new family.

Maxine

Maxine is one of the many cats who have found a safe haven in Haven. Since she came to us as a kitten in August 2021, she has had a loving home. She came in with her mother and siblings when she was just a month old. Her third birthday is now approaching.

Like all cats at Safe Haven Egypt, Maxine has received her basic vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. She is also fitted with a microchip, has undergone a deworming treatment and had an anti-flea treatment. She is litter box trained and spayed.

About three months ago it was noticed that Maxine appeared to be blind, a condition she had not previously had. A specialist veterinarian confirmed this. It is not clear what happened, possibly the pressure in the eyes became too high for an unknown reason.

Despite only recently becoming blind, Maxine has adapted. Maxine is naturally friendly, but since her sudden blindness she is still insecure. She can sometimes scream loudly when someone touches her.

Maxine is also almost completely deaf.

Deaf & blind; This means that respect for her personal space is very important. Respectful people around her are needed.

Despite these challenges, she is good with other cats and has a calm nature.

Each Safe Haven Egypt cat travels with a negative rabies laboratory certificate, a sturdy cat box and all documentation of the cat.

Maxine, like all our cats, is an indoor cat. She is not allowed to walk around freely, but in a catio or a very well-enclosed garden, she can come outside. She is a loving cat who needs a caring home where she can feel safe and loved.

We ask potential adopters to our adoption procedure to read and tell us contact if there are any questions.

Christian

Christian on the street, end of 2021

As they often do, a video of a young cat in dire need in Cairo circulated among people active in sheltering and rescuing cats. This was at the end of 2021.

It was a cat that had clearly had something terrible happen to it. Broken jaw and his eyes were a bloody mess. – He wouldn't make it without help.

A friend of Haven took him to the vet for necessary care and cared for him for about a month. The SHE community sponsored him and named him Christian. And so, in early 2022, Christian arrived in Haven.

December 2023

Here we are two years later. Christian has become a grown-up handsome boy.

Christian is blind. The eyes are removed and closed. He must be about 2.5 years old now.

He is a gentle, calm and friendly cat. He has no tendency to bite or scratch.

Christian gets along well with other cats. He's a good eater.

He is not yet cuddly, he is a bit scared of being touched. The busy environment of Haven is not good for him. He sometimes walks a bit uncertainly and nervously through the spaces.

In a quiet house he will certainly blossom.

So he is one of the many blind SHE cats. Know that blind cats are wonderful. They are cats through and through. And they can be expected to act as cats do. Such as (possibly) found on top of a seemingly inaccessible place.

For those who delve into the world of blind cats, see . FB group Blind cats united.

All cats at Safe Haven Egypt receive vaccinations against common cat diseases. An anti-worm and anti-flea treatment. Have a microchip, are castrated like Christian. They are litter box trained, – And will travel with a negative Rabies certificate and their vaccination record.

Also something that applies to all SHE cats is that they must be indoor cats. - We don't want to have to find out after adoption that adopter's promise not to let the cat roam free twas a lie . - This has even happened with a blind cat.

We would like to get our animals adopted. But that must also be done properly and safely.

Can you give our Christian a home? Want to sit together on the couch and go to sleep? – Then take a look at our adoption procedure.

And don't hesitate to contact us for questions or an adoption proposal.

Sharing this message where you can is also something that we greatly appreciate.
