Julie

Julie is one of Haven's blind cats. She is 2 years old and has a gentle character.

Julie is good with other cats and dog-friendly dogs, which makes her a great companion. Although she can be a bit shy if she doesn't know you yet, she quickly turns into a friendly and affectionate cat.

She needs some time to get used to new people, but once she gets comfortable she shows her loving nature.

A cat can adapt very well to blindness. Julie is therefore very independent. But an adopter should not forget that she is blind and take that into account.

She had eye surgery where her eyes were removed and closed. Despite this challenge, Julie adapts well and navigates her environment well.

Like all Safe Haven Egypt cats, Julie has received her basic vaccinations against common feline diseases and rabies. She is microchipped, dewormed and has undergone anti-flea treatment. Julie is litter box trained and has been sterilized.

Safe Haven Egypt ensures that all cats are kept in safe indoor environments and are not allowed to roam freely. Julie can go outside in one catio or a very well-enclosed garden.

When adopted, Julie travels with a negative rabies laboratory certificate, a sturdy cat box and all documentation of the cat.

We invite potential adopters to our adoption procedure to read. You can always contact us if you have any questions to contact us.

Julie is a special cat who deserves a loving and patient home. With the right care and attention, she will certainly be an asset to her new home.

Maxine

Maxine is one of the many cats who have found a safe haven in Haven. Since she came to us as a kitten in August 2021, she has had a warm home. She came in with her mother and siblings when she was just a month old. Her third birthday is now approaching.

Like all cats at Safe Haven Egypt, Maxine has received her basic vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. She is also fitted with a microchip, has undergone a deworming treatment and had an anti-flea treatment. She is litter box trained and spayed.

About three months ago it was noticed that Maxine appeared to be blind, a condition she had not previously had. A specialist veterinarian confirmed this. It is not clear what happened, possibly the pressure in the eyes became too high for an unknown reason.

Despite only recently becoming blind, Maxine has adapted. Maxine is naturally friendly, but since her sudden blindness she is still insecure. She can sometimes scream loudly when someone touches her.

Maxine is also almost completely deaf.

Deaf & blind; This means that respect for her personal space is very important. Respectful people around her are needed.

Despite these challenges, she is good with other cats and has a calm nature.

Each Safe Haven Egypt cat travels with a negative rabies laboratory certificate, a sturdy cat box and all documentation of the cat.

Maxine, like all our cats, is an indoor cat. She is not allowed to walk around freely, but in a catio or a very well-enclosed garden, she can come outside. She is a loving cat who needs a caring home where she can feel safe and loved.

We ask potential adopters to our adoption procedure to read and tell us contact if there are any questions.

Deedee

Deedee on the street in March 2021

Deedee was born around December 2020 and came to us in March 2021 after a video of her acting strangely. This seemed to indicate a neurological problem.

We managed to rescue her from the street and bring her to Haven. She was very scared at first,

Thanks to B12 vitamin injections, her condition improved significantly.

Deedee has been at the Haven for three years and has no known health problems. She does have a tendency to tilt her head a little to the left, but this does not hinder her in her daily life.

When Deedee arrived at our home, she was very shy, but now she allows herself to be touched by Koky, the manager of the Port, and she likes to get close. We expect that after adoption it will not take much effort to get Deedee used to her new owner and to gain trust.

NB; Deedee is not a ready-made cuddle cat.

She gets along well with other cats and dogs and is litter box trained.

Like all Safe Haven Egypt cats, Deedee has received her basic vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies, has been microchipped and has undergone deworming and anti-flea treatment. She has been sterilized and must be kept as an indoor cat, although she can go outside in a catio or a very well-enclosed garden.

When adopted, Deedee comes with a negative rabies laboratory certificate, a sturdy cat box and all necessary documentation.

We ask a potential adopter read our adoption procedure. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Cat with personality. She is really friendly.

Fatima

Many very young kittens arrive at Safe Haven Egypt. With their mom. But sometimes not. They then have to be bottle fed. Very much work.

But this also results in kittens that are very familiar with people.

Fatima has been a bottle baby. And she has become a friendly young calico cat.

Our girl is one-eyed. Her other eye is cloudy. The fact that she only has a single eye is not a handicap for a domestic cat. Even completely blind cats can handle themselves perfectly.

Fatima is now 1.5 years young. She can live well with other cats and dogs.

All SHE cats are vaccinated against common cat diseases and rabies. Get an anti-worm treatment and anti-flea treatment. They are chipped and taught to use the litter box.

An essential part of a suitable home for a SHE cat is that it is a safe home. Fatima must be an indoor cat. Or go outside in a very well-enclosed garden from which she cannot escape.

Do you think that giving Fatima a safe and loving home is within your capabilities? – Then check out our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us contact.

Kim

This is a confirmed cat

Kim on the street.
The message that brought her to attention

A video of an apparently paralyzed cat has been making the rounds on Facebook among those rescuing cats in Cairo.

This young cat was able to find her way to Haven and was named Kim.

Thanks to the good care received, Kim made a full recovery. She no longer has any problems walking and has no medical problems.

Kim is now estimated to be 10 months old. She is very friendly and affectionate.

Like all SHE cats, Kim has received her vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. Anti-worm treatment, anti-flea treatment.

She has been spayed and sterilized. Kim understands and applies the concept of the 'litter box'.

As a resident of Haven, Kim lives with many other cats. And there are also some cat-friendly dogs there. So she can be kept in her adoptive family with other cats and dogs. Kim also gets along well with children.

As an ex-street, it is our greatest wish that this remains the case. Kim must be an indoor cat. There are no safe, quiet streets. Cats are also killed in 'quiet residential areas'.

It is also an option to secure an outdoor area so that a cat cannot escape. That's not easy, but it is possible. Or a cat run, to build a 'catio'.

Who wants to give this beautiful semi-longhaired calico cat a home?

Is that you? – Then check out our adoption procedure. And don't hesitate to contact us contact.

Sunset

Update 2024-05-30: Sunset has a serious medical problem that was not known when Sunset's promotional messages were posted on Facebook. The text below has been adjusted with that information

In July 2023, a video made the rounds. A blind cat eating bread. – Not an obvious meal for a cat. Hunger lowers pickiness.

When going out to pick up that cat to take it to Haven, there turned out to be two. The bread eater was Danny, Sunset is a suspected sister. They are both safe in Haven now. And they don't eat bread anymore.

As usual, her first sponsor gave her a name and it is Sunset.

Sunset is blind. Her eyes are not functional. These non-functional eyes are currently still present.

The tough life on the street has not cracked her. Sunset is a sweet, friendly and playful cat. Good with dogs and other cats.

We estimate that Sunset is 1.5 years old.

It was recently determined that Sunset has a medical problem with her liver. The liver enzymes are much too high. As a result, the operation to remove her eyes has been postponed.

There is a suspicion that this will be a chronic problem. Sunset currently needs special food and medicine. With the right treatment this can be controlled.

Sunset is currently adoptable. We recommend that anyone who adopts Sunset have her thoroughly examined by their local veterinarian.

Although the cats in Haven receive the best possible care, the options available to veterinarians in Egypt are probably more limited than those in the adopter's country.

If the current diagnosis remains confirmed, special veterinary diet food will have to be purchased for Sunset. No guarantee can be given about Sunset's life expectancy.

But a chronic condition does not necessarily rule out Sunset's ability to live a long life.

In any case, the potential for longevity is higher for Sunset if she were adopted. The necessary special veterinary diet food is extremely difficult to obtain in Egypt. This kind of food is expensive anyway. But because it has to come via 'grey imports', it is much, much more expensive to buy in Egypt. And often simply not for sale.

Obtaining the necessary medication is also difficult in Egypt. And we cannot ignore the financial aspect.

Sunset's best chance would be to find an adopter who is willing to adopt her despite her medical challenges.

Like all SHE cats, she knows where to find her litter box. Has received her vaccinations against rabies and common cat diseases. She has received an anti-worm treatment and an anti-flea treatment. Has been made sterile and has a microchip.

Anyone who would adopt Sunset to keep her until the sunset of her life will receive her including a transport box and her vaccination record.

Please take a look at our adoption procedure so you know how this goes. – And if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.
