Pablo

This is a confirmed cat

Pablo on the street

At the end of December 2023, Pablo came to the attention of someone who cared about Pablo's fate. He was in a very bad state at the time. Starving and weak. So weak that he could no longer really walk.

A message about Pablo on Facebook reached Haven and he was admitted.

Pablo recovered well with rest, safety and nutrition. Blood tests showed that he has kidney problems.

He needs special diet and medication. Pablo also has Cerebellar hypoplasia. A 'CH' cat. This is a developmental disorder of a part of the brain that causes control problems with movement.

Pablo was a street cat as he was found on the street. His age is uncertain but best estimate is that he is about 10 years old. He could be younger or older.

There are no street cats that are 10 years old. Pablo must have been a house cat that was no longer welcome. Putting him on the street should have been a death sentence for Pablo. If the miracle of being taken in at Haven did not happen.

Pablo is considerably older than most SHE cats. But still has many years to go. With good care.

Haven gives him a good start with the standard treatment;

He has received his vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. Deworming and flea treatment. Is chipped and neutered.

Who can see beyond his age and his medical concerns? Does a Pablo have a chance with you? Please read our adoption procedure.

And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Beauty

This is a confirmed cat

The young cat was found in a cardboard box on the street with her kittens. It is unclear whether they were dumped in the box or whether the cat chose it as a place to give birth. However, it is very clear that she is an abandoned house cat, because she is extremely trusting.

A kind person picked up the mother and her kittens and brought them to the Haven. Unfortunately, none of the babies made it.

The mother cat survived, but lost an eye due to a severe infection. The infection was treated and she was also de-fleaed, de-wormed, vaccinated, sterilized and chipped.

It is anticipated that Beauty will undergo surgery to close the eye socket to prevent the risk of a possible future infection.

In the SHE community there is a tradition: the first sponsor of a newcomer gets to choose a name. This sponsor gave her the name “Beauty”!

Beauty is now about a year and a half old and much more than a beauty!

What makes this fluffy tuxedo cat a dream cat is her personality. Koky, the founder of SHE, describes her as “super, super, super friendly”.

When you look at the pictures, you can see Beauty's affection for people in the look of her one eye! Beauty is good with everyone, … with respectful children, with cat-friendly dogs and with her own kind.

Who wants to give our cute pirate girl a loving forever home?

Beauty can travel to the EU, the UK, Canada and the US. Under certain conditions, she can also be placed in Switzerland. She has her vaccination booklet and an official rabies titer certificate with her.

Dougal

This is a confirmed cat

Who can resist these amber eyes?
That irresistible look belongs to the handsome Dougal!

A neighbor of Safe Haven Egypt (SHE) had two cats. One day a moving van arrived.

Koky, the founder of SHE, approached the movers to ask the neighbor if she wanted to take her cats with her. Unfortunately, in Cairo, pets are often treated like toys: when they have had their day, they are thrown away. The neighbor assured that she would keep the cats.

The next day Koky found the two completely terrified animals on the street, ... as if she suspected it! Because indoor cats are definitely not made for the street, she took them both to the Haven.

Dougal is about a year and a half old and – just like his former roommate Saffron – a typical domestic cat.

He is very trusting, friendly and loves human affection. In the Haven he also gets along well with his peers and the shelter dog.

Because Dougal and Saffron grew up together, they are ideal for a double adoption. They have already been socialized together and are therefore also suitable for less experienced adopters.

However, Dougal can also do without his friend Saffron be adopted, because the two are not dependent on each other.

Dougal has always been an indoor cat and enjoyed the safety of the Haven after his heartless owner abandoned him. Therefore, he should never be kept as a free-ranging outdoor cat, like our other rescued animals.

Are you already enchanted by this charmer?

Like all SHE cats, Dougal has been neutered, deflead, dewormed, chipped and vaccinated. It can fly to Europe, Canada and the US.

He has his vaccination passport and an official veterinary certificate of his active protection against rabies.

Ruskin

This is a confirmed cat

Ruskin has just been picked up off the street. – March 10, 2023

March 2023. After a typical long tiring day, Koky, the manager of Safe Haven Egypt, was on his way home from Haven. And she encounters a cat that almost ends up under her wheels.

Koky picked up the cat, which was caught without any problems. After reporting about this incident in the SHE Facebook group, the cat was named Ruskin and her first sponsor.

We estimate that Ruskin was born around the end of December 2022, beginning of 2023.

Ruskin is a very friendly girl. She likes to sit with people and follow them. She doesn't like being picked up.

She has been sterilized. Has received her vaccinations against common cat diseases and rabies. Has had deworming treatments and anti-flea treatment. Know how to use the litter box. And also has a microchip.

As you can see, she is now a beautiful adult tortoiseshell cat. And ready to find her own home.

Can you imagine Ruskin lying next to you on the couch? Softly humming as she presses against you? – Take a quick look at the top of this text! – If there is none 'This is a reserved cat' then this can be done effectively.

You have read how Ruskin was literally picked up off the street. That must never happen again. Above all, she must have a safe home. As an indoor cat or a cat with access to a fully enclosed outdoor area.

Know that Ruskin gets along well with other cats. So that's no problem for the longest time!

Can you give Ruskin a place in your home and in your heart?

Then check it out our adoption procedure. And please don't hesitate to contact us for questions. Or if you just know and want to be a candidate to adopt Ruskin.

Honey

This is a confirmed cat

Little Honey

Our little red and white blind boy Honey is growing up fast!

In June last year, he was admitted to Safe Haven Egypt (SHE) as a small, half-starved kitten along with his one-eyed sister Mabel. Since then he has developed very well.

His tricolor sister Mabel has already received an adoption offer; now Honey is waiting for his own special family.

Honey is now (almost) 1 year young (estimated; born May 2023) and enjoying his life in the Haven's penthouse apartment with the other lively young kittens. His handicap is absolutely no problem for him during the sometimes wild games. On the contrary, he enjoys the company of his feline friends and is very playful, just like any other young cat.

Honey is not only very social with his cat friends, but also loves people. He likes human attention. He enjoys cuddling, which currently comes right after play.

Honey is suitable for adopters who have no previous experience with disabled pets. This is because only people consider blind cats to be disabled.

Honey now

Adopters receive many tips from our experts – especially as part of the home inspection – on how to deal with blind cats. Of course, potentially dangerous places in the household must be secured.

Honey is ready to fly, which means he has been neutered, received his anti-flea treatment, dewormed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He can fly to Europe and of course travels with a negative rabies certificate and all necessary documents.

At the end of June 2024 he was tested for FIV/FeLV and was negative.

SHE attaches great importance to the safety of its rescued cats. Therefore, their cats are not allowed to roam freely. This goes without saying for blind cats! Of course, they would be happy with a fully secured balcony or a cat-friendly garden.

Maximus

This is a confirmed cat

April 15, 2023, on the way to Haven

Saving stray cats is a kind of war in which hard choices have to be made. Saving all cats by taking them in to Haven is simply not possible. – Sometimes Koky will help cats that she knows about and bring them some food.

For example, Koky brought Maximus and his brother or sister, as street cats, occasionally some food.

When Koky came to visit again, Maximus' siblings where. Koky heard of a cat killed nearby that was probably the missing cat. Koky then decided to take that kitten with him to Haven. – And so Maximus arrived in Haven on April 15, 2023.

October 2023

Maximus' mother was captured, sterilized and released.

Today Maximus must be about 10 months old. He has become a handsome boy.

We suspect that his hair will become a bit longer than it is now, especially in the cooler climate. He is not fully grown yet.

Maximus is a gentle cat. And very loving. He is not a very energetic cat. He likes to leave foolish jumping around to other cats. He has no health problems.

However, he is not shy, he comes asking for attention and gently jumps on the knee instead of clawing at your shoulder like some cats do.

He gets along very well with the other cats in the group he is in now.

He's just perfect!

Maximus has received his vaccinations. Its anti-worm treatment, anti-flea treatment. Is chipped and neutered. – And obtained his certificate 'How to use the litter box' with honors.

Maximus is the only survivor of his litter as an ex-street cat. He has found safety within the walls of Haven and good care from its employees.

That is why we emphasize so strongly that our cats must be indoor cats. Although you can of course go outside in a very well-enclosed garden. We will ask you this during contacts with the prospective adopter. You will promise this in the adoption contract.

But ultimately we have no choice but to hope that the adopter is honest about it. Which unfortunately, despite all our concerns about finding a good candidate, does not always turn out to be the case.

Do you want to give Maximus a safe, loving home? – Then take a look at our adoption procedure.

The availability of Maximus here as an adoptable cat is thanks to the efforts of many people. – Please know that you will certainly not 'disturb' if you have any questions. - Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Does a cat not fit into your life right now? Maybe someone else in your circle? – Sharing is caring!

Dizzi

This is a confirmed cat

Dizi upon entering the Port

In August 2021, Koky heard about the plight of a paralyzed mother cat and her four very small kittens. Even though the Haven was quite full, she agreed to take them in as they would have had little to no chance of survival if left on the streets.

One of those four was a black and white boy named Dizzy.

He is now 2.5 years old. Dizzy has grown into a sweet adult cat with lots of affection. Visitors to the Haven describe him as “good-natured” and “loving.” He is not an “in-your-face” cat, but if you seem like a friendly person and you have an empty lap, you will soon have Dizzy for company. He's good company and will happily follow you around to see what you're up to (if that's not giving love, of course).

Dizzy has had a difficult start in life. In addition to the story of how he was found, he soon had to deal with the fact that he was a little kitten without a mother. His paralyzed mother, Sokra, did her best with her four little ones. Knowing that they were safe, that they were old enough to feed themselves, Sokra died at the end of September 2021.

We want to keep our promise to Sokra to find loving homes for all her babies. So let's find one for Dizzy.

He is neutered, chipped and house trained. He has had his regular vaccinations in addition to the rabies vaccine. When he travels to his new home, he will fly with his vaccination record and his certificate from an EU or UK recognized laboratory with the results of his rabies blood test, as required. We expect Dizzy to do well in most households, including those with respectful children.

This boy has truly only known the safety of the Haven as his home. Dizzy must be an indoor cat, or if he is allowed outside, it must be in a completely cat-proof garden (with the special fence) or a catio. Under no circumstances should he be allowed to roam outside or in a garden that is not cat-proof. We owe him (and his mother) his safety and security. Some of our adopters have successfully trained/trained their SHE cats.

Dizzi on the right, his sister on the left also available for adoption

If you've been touched by Dizzy's story or how handsome he is, or if you like the idea of a lap cat, why not consider this beautiful boy?

Since Dizzy has never had people of his own, we expect that he will develop a close bond with his adopter/family. All our adoptions are subject to a successful home check (done via video call) and an adoption fee. See What is the adoption procedure at SHE?

If you would like to offer to adopt Dizzy or would like to know more about our adoption procedure in general, no Contact on. Myself or another member of our volunteer Admin team will do our best to respond to you within 24 hours.
