Tofu

This is an reserved cat

In late June 2023, Koky, the founder of SHE, found a dirty, long-haired white cat in a supermarket parking lot.

It was clear that this was an abandoned house cat that would not survive long on the streets. Koky took him home immediately. At that time our British caretaker Deborah was visiting. In order to keep him separated from Koky's own cats, Tofu spent the night in Deborah's guest room (see last photo).

Despite being in an unfamiliar place with a stranger, he showed no signs of stress and was very friendly. Deborah decided to call him 'Tofu'.

Apart from being dirty and having matted fur, Tofu was otherwise unharmed. So Koky and Deborah took him straight to Haven the next day. There he was treated for fleas, dewormed, vaccinated and neutered. He also went through a 3 week quarantine period before being allowed to join the other cats in the garden apartment.

Tofu is now between 3 and 4 years old (as of October 2024) and in perfect health. His long, silky coat has become a bright white again, beautifully complemented by his striking amber eyes.

He is a gentle and relaxed cat. He does not seem to be at all impressed by the large group of cats in the garden apartment, where the two shelter dogs also roam freely.

What really makes Tofu special is his loving nature!

He loves to be cuddled and pampered by everyone. Although he can be encouraged to play, he enjoys all the affection he can get the most. Unfortunately, in a large shelter like ours, there is not enough time for the individual attention that cats like Tofu need. He also needs regular grooming to keep his lush coat in top condition and his healthy skin.

Who wants to share their couch with this dream cat and give Tofu a loving and caring home that will last a lifetime?

Tofu is perfectly happy being an indoor cat and is not allowed to roam freely outdoors. Of course, this does not mean he would not like access to a screened balcony, catio or escape-proof garden.

Tofu is ready to fly to the EU, UK, Canada or the US. In some cases adoption to Switzerland is also possible. He will travel with his vaccination booklet and a rabies titer certificate from an accredited German lab.

Travis

This is an reserved cat

Handsome Travis is looking for a forever home!

Unfortunately, the situation for cats in Egypt is still disastrous. People buy cats as toys for themselves and their children. Once they grow out of the cute kitten age or are no longer wanted for other reasons, they end up on the streets.

Our Travis was almost certainly a house cat. Because these cats have no chance to survive on the streets, Koky, the founder of SHE, took him in at Haven.

Travis is approximately 3 years old and is neutered and microchipped. He has received his basic vaccination and his rabies vaccination. He is microchipped and litter box trained.

Travis is a beautiful Blue Point with aqua blue eyes. His coat has been shaved but will grow back thicker.

He is very people-oriented and affectionate. He shows no aggression towards the other cats in the Haven and the two shelter dogs do not make him angry either.

Travis is an indoor cat only and will not be placed in a home where he has unsecured access to the outdoors.

Of course he would love the luxury of a balcony with a mesh screen, a cat enclosure or a secure garden, but these are not a must.

Anyone fall in love with this handsome boy?

Nemr

This is an reserved cat

Upon arrival at Haven

Last February, something very ordinary happened on the streets of Cairo. Dogs attacked a very young kitten.

However, this was a lucky thing for this kitten as he was spotted and ended up in Haven. His admission price was the lower part of his right front leg which could not be saved.

He was given good care and the name Nemr.

At first he was scared. Didn't want to be touched. Some cats stay scared their whole lives. Not Nemr.

He has now become a cat that demands human attention. He follows the shelter workers around hoping to get a pet. Which he does get, of course, although not all the time. There is a lot of work to be done in Haven.

Pet me, all day long!

Nemr is estimated to have been born around New Year's 2024. He is ready to leave for a new home.

And that means he is litter box trained. He has received his basic vaccinations, including rabies vaccination. He is also neutered and chipped and has received his deworming and anti-flea treatment.

The absence of his right hand is no obstacle for Nemr. Besides being affectionate towards people, Nemr is also a good friend towards other cats.

Nemr also has no problem with the sweet cat-friendly dog Hope who walks around among the cats.

We ask anyone who would consider giving Nemr a home to read the adoption procedure. Know that we attach great importance to a safe environment for our rescued ex-street cats. They should not be able to end up on the streets again.

And of course don't hesitate to contact us to contact for questions. This all runs on volunteers. Nothing is too much for us to give our cats a home.

Julie

This is a temporary reserved cat. This status typically lasts for a week.
This is so that an interested party can think about a possible adoption proposal. It is still possible to apply as a reserve.

Julie is one of Haven's blind cats. She is 2 years old and has a gentle character.

She is good with other cats and friendly dogs, making her a great companion. Although she can be a bit shy when she first meets you, she quickly develops into a friendly and affectionate cat.

She needs some time to get used to new people, but once she gets comfortable she shows her loving nature.

A cat can adapt very well to blindness. Julie is therefore very independent. But an adopter should not forget that she is blind and take that into account.

She had eye surgery where her eyes were removed and closed. Despite this challenge, Julie adapts well and navigates her environment well.

Like all Safe Haven Egypt cats, Julie has received her basic vaccinations against common feline diseases and rabies. She is microchipped, dewormed and has undergone anti-flea treatment. Julie is litter box trained and has been sterilized.

Safe Haven Egypt ensures that all cats are kept in safe indoor environments and are not allowed to roam freely. Julie can go outside in one catio or a very well-enclosed garden.

When adopted, Julie travels with a negative rabies laboratory certificate, a sturdy cat box and all documentation of the cat.

We invite potential adopters to our adoption procedure to read. You can always contact us if you have any questions to contact us.

Julie is a special cat who deserves a loving and patient home. With the right care and attention she will certainly be an enrichment for her new family.
