Aubrey is still very young – we estimate she was born in June 2023 – and has already experienced terrible things in her life. Yet she has not lost faith in people.
As a kitten, she was taken from the streets of Cairo when she was thrown in the trash. Aubrey was cared for in “Safe Haven Egypt (SHE)” and received all the necessary examinations and vaccinations.
Last year she was allowed to pack her bags to fly to the US and wait in a loving shelter for her “furrrever home”.
But everything turned out differently: a transport accident occurred at Cairo airport in which a cat (our blind Angus) died and several cats escaped. ( see (cat) disaster at the airport: help requested )
Aubrey was one of them too!
Aubrey's rescuer, Koky, spent several days at the airport; but only airport staff were allowed to enter the premises.
By setting up food and animal traps, airport workers were able to capture and return the cats one by one.
Aubrey was the last cat from SHE that was missing. Afterwards she too could be secured and she drove back to the 'safe haven' with Koky.
Luckily she was unharmed! At SHE she was first allowed to recover from the shock. Now she no longer has to go through a shelter, but she is treated directly forever-home placed.
What does Audrey have to offer? – Since she is still very young, she is a lot of energy, very playful. But she is also a friendly and affectionate cat.
But wait! – The final characteristic that Audrey wants to convince you with; Audrey is a lap cat.
Now she really wants to find her own family where she can spend the rest of her young life. Since Aubrey is used to animal company, there should be at least one other feline friend in the household. She can also take a friend with her. Aubrey can travel to Europe, Canada or the US.
Safe Haven Egypt attaches great importance to the safety of their rescued cats. That is why these are only placed in an apartment. Of course, they would be happy with a networked balcony or a cat-friendly garden.
