Safe Haven Egypt is looking for 'flight parents' to Schiphol and Brussels Airport

Safe Haven Egypt has been a shelter for street cats since 2015. These cats therefore reside in Egypt. The people who adopt the cats are almost always from Western Europe and North America.

For adopters in Flanders or the Netherlands, the cats must travel from Egypt, near Cairo, to this region. This is only possible by plane.

So this is what it is for flight parents necessary. This is a traveler who will fly from an airport near Cairo to a destination in the area where the cat's adopter lives. And who wants to take this cat with him as 'extra luggage'.

Safe Haven Egypt ensures that the cat is present in a regulatory transport box on time at the time of the traveler's departure. That all papers for the cat are in order, such as the very recent certificate of negative rabies test.

Safe Haven Egypt buys the cat a plane ticket to the flight parent's destination in the name of the flight parent.

The duties of a flight parent include agreeing with SHE about when to travel and making practical arrangements to meet each other and transfer the cat(s) at the airport.

And then check in the cats under his or her name. In the context of the flight, the SHE cats are the flight parent's cats. Upon arrival at the destination airport, the adopter will await the flight parent to receive the cat. A chat group will be created for this purpose so that the flight parent and the adopter can meet with each other.

In order to carry out transport from Egypt to Flanders specifically, we are looking for people who will travel from Cairo to Schiphol or Brussels Airport. Ideally on a regular basis. And be open to the idea of taking on the role of flight parent on a voluntary basis.

Are you a traveler who is going to travel from Cairo, Egypt to Belgium or the Netherlands and you are open to the idea?

Then it would be a great help if you would consider this. We understand that this is a delicate matter.

If you were to contact us then we will be happy to answer your questions.

Cloud

Cloud & family on the street

It was April 2021 when Koky saw a message about a mother cat and her three babies who had been put on the street. Although there was no room for them in the Haven at that time, Koky arranged for them to be taken care of until they could move to the Haven. That happened in early June 2021. Cloud is the only cat from that litter of three kittens.

Outside of the first few weeks of her life, she only knew the Haven. Since she just turned 2 years old, we definitely think this beauty needs a forever home.

Cloud is a beautiful cat — medium to long hair, attentive and bright eyes, and a tail that could be used to dust all the dust in your house. She is a friendly, playful cat and loves human attention. In fact, she loves it so much that when she doesn't get the attention she feels she deserves, she can scratch her head a little. Not to hurt you, but to remind you that Her Majesty needs even more love and attention.

Cloud fits in a household with multiple cats or with the occasional cat-friendly dog. Because she needs to be trained not to scratch for attention, we do not recommend her in a family with young children.

Since she's been with us for so long (and has such a great tail), we have lots of photos of her and even a few videos. Take a look at this sweet lady and see if you think you can give her the attention she so desperately wants and deserves.

Like all our cats, Cloud is sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated against rabies (with her original laboratory test certificate) and also against standard cat diseases. Any offer of adoption for her is dependent on a successful video home check and an adoption contribution. See What is the adoption procedure at SHE?

Cloud is only adopted as a house cat, or if she is allowed outside, in a completely cat-proof garden (with special fencing), a litter box, or with a harness and leash. Cloud has lived the vast majority of its life in complete security and we want to ensure that this level of security is maintained. She has no street sense and does not understand that vehicles are a danger. Therefore, she should never be put in a situation where she is allowed to roam freely.

If you are interested in offering Cloud (and her tail) a home, or would like to know more about our adoption process, please contact us Contact on. We will do our best to contact you within 24 hours.

If you are not interested in adopting at this time, we might ask for your help by sharing her profile where you can.

Our best exposure is through word of mouth and spreading the word about who we are and what we do. Please help us find Cloud a loving forever home.

Zaynab

Meet our sweet girl, Zaynab.

She must have been born around August 2022. So she is 1.5 years old. (March 2024) Her name means “beauty”, “fragrant flower” or “grace”.

Zeynab as found on the street, among garbage

She was rescued on the street as a very young kitten, without a mother cat. Because of her age, she had to be bottle-fed. There is always a risk that these little ones will not survive, but Zaynab has grown into a kind and gentle girl.

Zaynab has a sweet character – not an in-your-face cat, but very grateful for human attention when it is offered. (See the video below, courtesy of our equally lovely Admin, Deborah Falcus).

Zaynab did not join the crowd of other cats that Deborah circled for attention on a recent visit. But when Deborah approached Zeynab she was happy with love. The only thing a little different about her is that she doesn't like dry food/kibble — so far she only eats wet food.

Maybe her new adopter can try some different flavors or options with her? 🙂

Because she was just a baby when she was rescued, the only home Zaynab has ever known is the Haven. She never had her own house, her own people. Given her temperament, we expect she would fit in well with most households, including those with other cats, with the cat-friendly dog and with respectful children.

Zaynab must be able to maintain the same level of safety in her forever home as she had in the Haven. This means that she either needs to be adopted by someone with a completely cat-proof yard (with the special fencing) or catio Either as an indoor cat/house cat.

We believe that with a few adjustments, such as daily playtime, indoor cats can live happy and content lives. Additionally, many of our adopters have had success training our cuties to go outside with a harness and leash, something that could be explored.

Zaynab is litter box trained. And like all our cats, she is sterilized, microchipped and vaccinated against standard cat diseases and rabies. If she travels, she will do so with her certificate from the laboratory that certifies her rabies blood test. She also has a negative FIV/FeLV test.

All adoption offers are subject to a successful home check (done via video call) and an adoption contribution. See page What is the adoption procedure at SHE?

If you think this young lady would be a good fit for your home and you are interested, then by all means, please contact us Contact.

We will do our best to contact you within 24 hours. If you have any questions about SHE, how adoption works with us, or how we work, please don't hesitate to contact us.

If you're not looking for a feline for your family, can you help us by spreading Zaynab's profile on social media?

She is ready to pack her bags and go to her forever home!

Update 10/10/2023: new video, all the way at the bottom

New video from 09/10/2023

Explanation; Zeynab was in a cage for two days to investigate whether she was eating enough. Normally she walks around freely in the group.
