{"id":3594,"date":"2024-11-05T19:24:14","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T18:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kattenadopterenuitegypte.vermeir.org\/?page_id=3594"},"modified":"2025-04-06T07:47:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T06:47:00","slug":"fiv-cats","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kattenadopterenuitegypte.vermeir.org\/en\/fiv-katten\/","title":{"rendered":"Our FIV+ cats"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>FIV is de afkorting voor het Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De belangrijkste feiten over FIV zijn:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>FIV is <strong>niet<\/strong> op zichzelf een levensbedreigende ziekte<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FIV doet <strong>niet<\/strong> het immuunsysteem &#8216;vernietigen&#8217;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FIV is <strong>niet<\/strong> &#8216;Kattenaids&#8217;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FIV is <strong>niet<\/strong> besmettelijk<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/safehavenegypt.net\/_\/nl\/onze-vijf-katten\/#11333656-5488-4d29-8bbf-49e649c22fb4\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FIV doet <strong>niet<\/strong> noodzakelijkerwijs de levensverwachting verkorten.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FIV-katten doen <strong>niet<\/strong> moeten gescheiden worden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FIV kan <strong>niet<\/strong> overgedragen worden naar andere soorten (dierlijk of menselijk)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Zolang een FIV+ kat niet vecht met niet-ge\u00efnfecteerde katten, raken ze niet ge\u00efnfecteerd. Castratie en sterilisatie, die alle SHE katten ondergaan, verminderen het risico op vechten aanzienlijk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een kat kan FIV niet overdragen door samen te leven met andere katten in huis, door waterbakken te delen en door elkaar schoon te maken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een goed verzorgde FIV-kat hoeft niet per se een kortere levensverwachting te hebben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het FIV-virus verzwakt het immuunsysteem van een kat, langzaam (over meerdere jaren), waardoor de kat later in zijn leven kwetsbaarder kan worden voor andere infecties bij katten. Dat is alles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FIV+-katten kunnen een gelukkig leven leiden in een sociaal huishouden met meerdere katten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FIV zorgt er niet voor dat een kat ziek wordt en op jonge leeftijd sterft.
